Local and loving It!

Although I am a local, which for the most part precludes the overnight part of this delightful Inn, I have been there countless times for events, both private and public and toured the facility and rooms. These folks know how to do the job! Bruce and Wendi are a lot of fun, super hard-working, thorough, and have very high standards for the the operation of this facility.
From here you are very near Bear Valley, historic Ebbetts Pass, Murphys wine country, Moaning Caverns....just to name a few.
The food is top notch: every part made fresh, using many locally sourced ingredients, and creatively combined by Chef Bruce in the open kitchen.
The mountain/log home ambience is beautifully and comfortably appointed, parking easy, flat entry, and the main gathering room an inviting place to idle away your resting hours. It's the same summer or winter: An Inn with heart!

Wonderful Little Slice of Heaven

This was our first time to ski at Bear Valley and we happened to find Black Bear Inn during our search for places to stay. Such a warm and inviting place to stay, nicely appointed rooms with luxurious sheets & towels, and wonderful hospitality from the owners -- Bruce and Wendi. We just loved our stay there, and are looking forward to the next time we can visit again!

Quiet Retreat

"Black Bear Inn is a quiet retreat, off the main road in Arnold, CA. The property is impeccably maintained, rustic, serene and beautiful. The rooms are spacious with everything that you need for a comfortable stay. The owners craft a wonderful cheese plate at the end of the day as well as a tasty gourmet breakfast in the morning. It feels a little like a home away from home. You'll notice in the decor plenty of pictures of people getting married on the property -- yes, it's that good looking that people choose to get married there.

The location is great. We used Black Bear Inn as a base to go up the road to Bear Valley. In good weather, this drive is an easy, picturesque 30 minutes up the road. Additionally, there are nice restaurants in close proximity to the Inn -- Dogwood, probably the best of the lot, is a 5 minute walk from the front door.

The owners are accessible, friendly, responsive and, perhaps most importantly, customer focused. A real gem of a place, and we will be lucky to return."

It's been a strange winter especially compared to 2023 when we had six feet of snow on the property for months!  There were times Bruce was on the tractor more than not on the tractor, mostly clearing paths in case of emergency.  Today it's  a chilly 36 degrees with blue skies and sunshine.  Don't be fooled though - the ski and snow play areas are ready to go!
Bear Valley Village , Bear Valley Resort , and Bear Valley Adventure Company each offer great options to enjoy the snow.
Did you know that there are 40 MILES of groomed trails for cross-country skiing up there????  The extensive trail system of groomed paths covers over 3,000 acres.  There are three warming huts thoughout the system.  We often drive up just to have an awesome burger at Reba's Meadow Cafe .  You can walk, snowshoe, or ski to the cafe.  They are open daily from 10am-3pm.
Come up and enjoy - hope to see you soon!

The snow just keeps on comin'!  Cal Trans is doing a great job keeping Highway 4 cleared, and Bruce is busy, daily, on his tractor.  Come on up, enjoy the winter activities, and finish the day with a soak in the hot tub!  We are full for President's Day Weekend, but have availability throughout February and March - we are also running specials, so check those out.
